Philosophy and logic makes us rational and thoughtful towards all aspects of life and these subjects impart ethics and moral values from the world religions. The importance of the subject also has been emphasized in the reports of Kothari Commission (1964-68) and in the National Policy on Education (1986).
With a glorious track record of more than 100 years, the Department of Philosophy is presently teaching around 250 students. Subject of Philosophy is taught as core, elective and IInd elective.
Eminent philosopher, Shree Anandshankar B. Dhruva had graced the Dept. by scholarly teaching on Nyaya, Vedant and Logic. Notable faculties of the past were Dr. H. M. Joshi (Former Vice- chancellor, Saurashtra University), Prof. R. V. Pandya (M. A. Oxford University), and Prof. C. V. Rawal known for his writings on Indian Philosophy in vernacular language.
